Bounty Hunter

The predecessor to Spy Hunt, the Bounty Hunter mode was planned for release sometime around October 2008. However, due to complications it was delayed and eventually scrapped in favor of what we now know as Spy Hunt.

Little is mentioned about Bounty Hunter on the site, apart from notices on the October and November 2008 patch notes of its delay and demise.

The Bounty Hunter Game Mode will unfortunately not be available in this update, and has been delayed until the 11/12 update for additional development and testing. We're looking to improve the game mode and make it more challenging for all players. Get ready to frag your friends and foes to earn additional GP in two more weeks!
--- 10/29 Patch Notes

The new game mode originally scheduled for release this patch has been indefinitely delayed due to necessary additional time for development and testing. In its place, we're giving you the new Sand Hog map! Don't worry, the new game mode will be coming in due time, once all its kinks have been worked out :)
--- 11/12 Patch Notes
After some additional time in development, the originally announced “Bounty Hunter” mode has evolved into “Spy Hunt”!
--- 12/16 Patch Notes

I can only assume that the mode was first announced on the forums. Little information can now be salvaged about the mode due to archive.org not stocking much about forum.nexon.net, Google Cache not being up-to-date and Nexon purging old forum posts to speed up the forums.

Luckily, I was able to salvage this (note: link may be broken in the future) in which forum user kjrokanoshi explained the mode to the thread starter, justluck88:

It's called Bounty Hunter (mode). It plays like OMA, however one person is randomly chosen to be the "bounty". That person then needs to be able to survive as long as he can against 15 other people. When the bounty is killed, the person who killed him becomes the bounty. The longer you stay as the bounty, the more GP you get. It probably won't be to heavy on EXP so it's safe to assume that this will be a poor man's game.

There was something that Nexon didn't like about the mode or something and decided to release Spy Hunt instead.

Question of the Post
If Bounty Hunter was to be released now as described above as a separate mode, would you play it?

  2. That's total bull, Bounty Hunter was just an old name for Spy Hunt.

  3. Hmm, so was the quote above just speculation? The Google Cache has now deleted the archived thread but it read like kjro was certain and not "oh I hope it's like this..."

I can't seem to find any information in favor or against the quote, though.
