Accolades Throughout the Ages

Accolades are a big part of Combat Arms and provide players with motivation and exhilaration. They have had an interesting history and this article will document it.

When Combat Arms was first released to the Korean public the only accolades in the game were the First Kill, Headshot, Double Kill, Multi Kill and Unbelievable accolades. They would show up in flames and leave in flames, with a different font from the capitalised Living Hell font they have today and were the same yellow-orange colour. Also, the total amount of people that you have killed was shown on the middle-right side of your screen (this is now used in Last Man Standing).

A little later in development they were changed to the above accolades but included Ultra Kill, Fantastic, Unbelievable and Unbelievable+ in Living Hell font with varying colours.

As the player obtained the accolades they would be displayed for everyone to see on the side of the screen.

Some modes have their own "accolades" system:

Capture the Flag has Touchdown and Recover
Spy Hunt has Intel Taken
Snowball Fight had Ice Crush
Fireteam has Round Start, +1 Life
Quarantine has Infected and Infection Destroyed

On April 1st 2009 the Nutshot was introduced to the game. Read about that here

When the Medal Case was launched in April Nexon accidentally deleted the accolades count on our player profiles, sparking fears that they would no longer be counted. Executive Producer, General G, posted on the forums that this was indeed accidental and not intentional and would be back soon

Trivia: Combat Arms Europe counts Unbelievable+ as a seperate accolade count, unlike Combat Arms America which does not count Unbelievable+ as an accolade.

Make your own accolades!
EpicallyAWSM has provided an in-depth Photoshop tutorial on making your own accolades. This can help make your forum signatures epically awesome:

When the UI was updated, so was the accolades. There was an incredible amount of community anger over the new accolades as they had lost their feel and looked too similar to each other.

Yes, you read that correctly.

An unbelievable CSM3

With this update getting a headshot or nutshot would override the accolade graphic that was meant to appear. For example, Double Kill, Multi Kill, Ultla Kill, Headshot, Nutshot, Unbelievable+. The 'fantastic' and 'unbelievable' would not appear, instead 'fantastic' would appear as a 'headshot' and an unbelievable would appear as a 'nutshot' in this example.

Seeing the success that was FAAT, several groups formed one of which as "Bring Our Accolades Back" (BOAB)

Seeing this anger, Nexon quickly fixed the accolades along with the rest of the UI with the help of forum user Klypto.

These all had headshots since I took screencaps from a hacker video since I thought that'd have all the accolades in them.
During seasonal events the Headshot and Nutshot accolades change to suit the event. For example:

Halloween Headshot
Christmas NutShot

Did you know?
If you buy a GP or NX item for a total duration of 3650 days (ten years) it will automatically be marked as "Permanent". Note that this does not work for weapon modifications are they do not stack in duration.

  1. Hey! Speaking of accolades, I would really appreciate it if you posted a link to my Accolade Making tutorial I made about a year ago, so people can make their own accolades/signatures.

Thank you, link is at the bottom
