The Nutshot

Let's go back to April 2009 when the NutShot was introduced and the Gender Change item became a hit...

The NutShot was introduced as an April Fools joke of April 2009, and its stay was for only a month. Whenever you shot a male character in the groin area, you were awarded a "NutShot" and the victim would writhe in pain. It was a one-hit-kill.
Doesn't that suck.

When the month was nearly over, Nexon held a poll asking players whether the NutShot should stay in the game. Most people chose:

Should the Nutshot stay forever?
Keep it in forever!   71%
 --------------- Poll 04.07.2009 ~ 04.24.2009

So Nexon happily decided to keep it, mainly because it was good publicity - they continued to promote Combat Arms "featuring the Nutshot" in press releases, for the next couple of months. Most of the forum-going community expressed their outrage of this poll result due to the fact that male characters now had two OHK areas opposed to the female's one (headshot).

The European community was extremely displeased with the Nutshot, so that Nexon Europe removed the feature from the game.

In the July 29th patch, Nexon changed the Nutshot so that it only appeared if the killing shot was in the nuts.

The Nutshot has made a reappearance, whether deliberate or not, in CAEU since the Short Fuse (?) patch.

  1. Doesn't Junk Flea still have CTF though?

  2. Yep.

It was removed for about a month due to concerns of a combination of speed hacking and powerleveling. As the game mode and map are popular, a lot of people complained and so the next patch reintroduced CTF to Junk Flea.

  3. The nutshot, while not a one hit kill, has a damage multiplier.

So slightly advantages to the fem base in regards to the nutshot issue.
